Salvation Mountain

Salvation Mountain is a hillside visionary environment created by local resident Leonard Knight in the California Desert area of Imperial County, north of Calipatria, northeast of Niland, near the Slab City squatter/art commune, and several miles from the Salton Sea.

You can access Salvation Mountain from sunrise to sunset every day of the year including holidays. There is no need to pay a ticket, but if you want to leave a donation you can do so in the designated box near the mountain.

Salvation Mountain was declared "a folk art site worthy of preservation and protection" in 2000 by the Folk Art Society of America and it is definitely worth a visit if you are in Southern California.

This place has amazing views and a whole lot of imagination. Creative minds and thoughtful inspiration to explore are welcomed! Perfect for sight viewing and photography shoots.

Spectacular Places to Drive around: Borrego Springs Serpent Sculptures.

The sculptures are all the work of one man, Ricardo Breceda. The craziest thing is they almost didn't exist. At one point in his life, Ricardo was a hard worker in Durango, Mexico on a construction site.

The sculptures can be found north and south of Borrego Springs along Borrego Springs Road. Most of the artworks are located close to the roadside, but a few you have to drive off the main road on a dirt track to reach.

Enjoy a variety of amazing  Sculptures like the Dragon Sculpture which is 15 ft tall and 350 feet long.

Borrego Springs is home to over 130 metal sculptures in the desert around Galleta Meadows Estates. They are a public art display worth a detour to Borrego Springs. You do not want to miss the opportunity to see art in the desert on your Anza Borrego Desert State Park or Joshua Tree National Park trip.

After your trip enjoy a variety of local shops in Borrego Springs and local restaurants.
